If you’ve ever booked a speaker, you know what a relief it is to find someone who’s both engaging and informative.

I’m that kind of speaker.

As a former English teacher—once called the best my principal had ever seen—I know how to organize complex ideas and present them with clarity. Clear, actionable content is the backbone of all my presentations, so audiences leave knowing exactly what to do next. 

But let’s be honest: even the most informative talk can flop if the speaker is dry or dull.

That’s where my theatre geek roots and speech-and-debate wins come in. I bring the energy. I bring the fun. I bring a deep love of teaching—and a flair for making any topic come alive.

Why I Offer This

While I love editing and running my own business, I miss the public speaking and chance to help people learn in real time that I found so rewarding in my teaching career.

At my core, I am passionate about helping people learn and improve their life.

So I am pleased to offer speaking services (new service as of 2023) for my business, Beacon Point LLC.

Katie is a tech-savvy, polished presenter. I was only able to make it to one of her sessions, but I immediately wished I had been at the others. She was thorough and provided a ton of resources. Her physical handouts were relevant (and not redundant, as can sometimes be the case!) The information in her slides was also dynamic and presented well—she wasn’t just reading stuff the audience could themselves read. It was evident that she was prepared and that she cared about the topic. She was also thoughtful in answering questions at the end. Sign me up for the next one!

I work on my own, and I have my own way of doing things (some deliberate, some just happened along the way). It is very helpful to see how someone else handles work flow, troubleshoots issues we all have, talks about what works (and doesn’t). So much great information here. I loved Katie’s distinction between systems and processes and how that plays out for all the aspects of admin and management. I made three pages of notes, and there’s also a huge list of resources to explore. It’s also great to hear how others approach their business and planning, and it’s enabled me to reflect and see what I’m doing well and where I can make adjustments. I’ll be looking up more from Beacon Point soon!

Katie’s presentation on client interactions and management was excellent. She covered a lot of ground in a down-to-earth and engaging way. The four pages of notes I took and the handouts I downloaded afterward provided a solid base for reworking and improving my processes for onboarding, working with, and following up with clients. There was a good balance between high level objectives and detailed examples, which was helpful for applying the ideas to my own business.
